Photographic-objects and how they transform their subjects fascinate me. Particularly, I am interested in photographic representations of the body. Society’s conflicted relationship with the body and its portrayal is puzzling. Often, the body is a contentious and violent vessel, yet essential in defining social-identity and ego. Photographs in the media can heavily influence self-image. However, pop-culture’s depiction of the body is under constant scrutiny. I consider these relationships while working – forming the photograph directly to the body, staging snapshots of the figure in the modern landscape, re-photographing iconic photos, etc. Images made by lenses and light have always been captivating, and the camera is an indispensable tool. Yet, I have no allegiance to any particular process or material.
